Challenge: Emotiv, a trailblazer in neurotechnology, set out to launch the MN8—its innovative 2 Channel Wireless EEG Headphones—aiming not just for technical excellence but also sustainability at every touchpoint. Their goal was to introduce a product with packaging as intelligent and conscious as the technology inside: vibrant, functional, and fully sustainable, constructed from 100% recycled materials.
Solution: Rooland partnered with Emotiv’s teams in Australia and the USA to reimagine both brand presence and packaging for a new era. Our creative journey was rooted in sustainable design with every detail purposefully crafted for minimal environmental impact and maximum visual allure.
Purposeful Packaging: We engineered a packaging experience centred on renewable materials. The sleek inner insert, moulded from Bagasse (sugar cane fibre), cradles the headphones with natural strength and elegance. The outer box, made from sturdy, recyclable paperboard, boasts a tactile, beautiful finish. Our design encourages customers to keep and reuse the package as a premium storage case, celebrating sustainability and aesthetic longevity.
Brand Revitalisation: Alongside structural innovation, we refreshed Emotiv’s visual language, introducing a bold colour palette and cohesive branding that embody their commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
Collaborative Process: Our creative process was powered by close collaboration across continents, aligning with Emotiv’s vision through every phase—from concept sketches to material selection, functional prototypes to the final launch.
Results: The Emotiv MN8 launched to acclaim in the USA, selling out its first production run and prompting a swift second release. The packaging earned praise for its eco-friendly ingenuity and striking design—qualities that resonated with both end-users and corporate clients, including Google. By connecting pioneering technology with sustainable design, this project not only elevated the Emotiv brand but also set a new benchmark for conscious packaging in the electronics industry. Our ongoing partnership continues to drive future innovation and meaningful impact.
